Yoh Commemorates National Safety Month With 7 Years and 72 Million Hours Without A Day Away From Work Incident
Philadelphia, Pa—June 12, 2007— In honor of National Safety Month, Yoh, a leading provider of talent and outsourcing services and a unit of Day and Zimmermann, announced it has achieved 72 million work hours completed over the course of seven years without a day away from work due to work-related or personal injury. In accordance with the theme of this year’s National Safety Month, “Celebrating Safe Communities,” Yoh continues to reinforce its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees not only in the work community, but also in the home and play communities through its Why Be Safe program.
“Yoh has a long standing history of bringing safety to the forefront with its Why Be Safe program, and providing our employees with the invaluable safety education that can help reduce the risk of injury and death in all facets of their lives, not just while they are at work,” says Bill Yoh, CEO of Yoh. “National Safety Month is the perfect opportunity to remind our staff and talent pool to take a few minutes each day to recall the safety training and guidance they have received from Yoh, and remember why it’s important to practice safe behaviors in everything they do.”
The Why Be Safe program, which is led by Yoh’s National Safety Director, Steven Young, promotes safety awareness by providing all employees with a comprehensive safety orientation, along with a library of safety tips and procedures to create and sustain a safety-conscious environment that will not be compromised for reasons of profit and productivity. Information on a variety of work- and home-related hazards, as well as preventative measures, will be distributed across the country to all of Yoh’s Business Center’s during National Safety Month, and posted on the Why Be Safe website, whybesafe.com. Employees will be encouraged to share that information with their families and the thousands of consultants Yoh has placed in a variety of industries nationwide.
National Safety Month was created in 1996 by the National Safety Council to raise public awareness of safety and health risks, and ultimately decrease the number of accidental injuries and deaths. According to the National Safety Council, the overall economic impact of all accidental injuries exceeds $625 billion a year and is devastating to individuals, families and employers. The cost of on- and off-the-job accidental injuries is a staggering $380 billion, of which 58%, or $220 billion, are costs related to employee injuries off-the-job. Inspired by the debilitating economic, medical and personal effects of such injuries, Yoh relies on the personal commitment of each employee, as well as an active collaboration with its customers and the community, to make safety—at work, home and on the road—a primary concern.
